2018 London Marathon Free Tips & Trends: DAY

The 2018 London Marathon will be held on Monday, April 22, 2018 (4/22/18) in Boston, Mass., as runners race from Hopkinton to Boston. The 122nd race will mark the 50th consecutive year the race has been held on a Monday.

What TV channel is the London Marathon on?

Coverage of the 2018 London Marathon will be on BBC 1 and BBC 2.

The BBC 1 coverage will be on from 8.30am until 2pm when it will move on to BBC2.

You will also be able to watch the elite races on the BBC red button, with all coverage also available on the website.

What time does the race start?

The Elite Wheelchair races start at 8.55am followed by the World Para Athletics Marathon World Cup ambulant races at 9am.

The Elite women's race sets off at 9.15am.

The men's Elite race and mass race will start at 10am.

Who are the favourites?

Eliud Kipchoge - aiming for a third London Marathon triumph - plus Kenenisa Bekele and Sir Mo Farah do battle with 2017 winner Daniel Wanjiru in the elite men's race.

Kenyan ace Mary Keitany, who won last year with a world record time of 2hr 17min 1sec is the favourite in the elite women's race.

The London Marathon remains one of the most popular marathon races anywhere in the world, representing one of the marathon majors that constitute the most prestigious road running events globally.

Currently sponsored by Virgin Money, a sponsorship partnership that has endured for many years, the London marathon takes in some of this famous city's most iconic sites at the participants make their way though the city streets.

The wheelchair event is the first to start, at 8.55am. The marathon start time is then officially 9.15am for the elite women athletes and 10.00am for the elite men and main race competitors.

There is also the option for UK viewers to watch the marathon live on the BBC via the excellent iPlayer service,  BBC TV coverage starts at 8.30am on BBC2 then switches to BBC1 at 9.55am:
